ISO has approved a new version of ISO 9001. Accurately called ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems; Requirements (2008 is the year of approval).

In particular, the ISO 80 members with voting power (p-member) the Technical Committee TC 176 (Quality management and quality assurance) (here the base site) , including Spain through AENOR, the parent committee Sub 2 that has this standard (Quality Systems SC2) , have unanimously approved its publication, scheduled for 15/17 November 2008.

"Since the beginning of the review process of the UNE-EN ISO 9001, the changes have been aimed mainly at improving the clarity, ease of translation and use, and to increase coherence the document with the ISO 9000 and strengthen their compatibility with ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management. Thus, the new ISO 9001:2008 does not include new additional requirements with respect to the 2000 version but includes clarification of existing requirements in the previous text "
